Zimbabweans In UK Use Mugabe Birthday To Protest

JOHANNESBURG – President Robert Mugabe is turning 93 on Tuesday but not all Zimbabweans will be celebrating with him.

A group of exiles living in the UK are turning the celebrations into a protest, demonstrating against Mugabe’s plans to run for president again next year.

In a petition, the group is calling on the Southern African Development Community to ensure next year's polls are free and fair.

Mugabe has been criticised for spending millions on birthday celebrations, while the country's economy continues to struggle.

Last week, his wife Grace said if her husband dies, he could still run for president as a corpse. - eNCA
